Letter To Nancy Pelosi

mailto:sf.nancy@mail.house.gov

Note: I had to email this through my yahoo account as I am not a constituent of hers.

Nancy Pelosi

Greetings and Congratulations,

I am writting to you today in disbelief.

I believe that a BIG part of the election just past was government accountability. I thought this came out loud and clear. This did NOT mean we wanted some toothless lobbyism bill.(Though lobbyism needs to end)

We, the American Voter, DEMAND ANSWERS!

Answers require independent investigations of the highest level. Again we are NOT interested in toothless.

Just a few of the biggies:

War on Terror - We want a full investigation of all our options in our wars(all of them). We do not want to cut and run. We want options to the optimal possible outcome. Then we want swift actions in that direction.

Corruption - Start at the top. This problem requires Investigation, Prosecution, Legislation, and Oversight. We want Justice.

Terrorism - Is our government the terrorist we should fear the most? If not, why is 9/11 still a mystery? Why is the Oklahoma City Bombing still covered in sham? Why are innocent American's dying and NO honest, independent investigations have been conducted? Why don't either explanation stand up to science or even the most cursory examination? Why has the Anthrax in the mail thing never been "solved"?Why are so many aspects of all of these investigations being hidden, destroyed, recycled, classified (so high the investigations don't even get to consider them), or otherwise supressed? Most shockingly, Why did the President of the United States obstruct the investigation into 9/11 right from the start? Why has his families connection to the security firm in charge of WTC not been investigated?

There are so many more... Dick Cheney and the obvious conflicts of interest RAMPANT in his office, and the president's. Lobbyists in control of the very organizations overseeing the industries they used to represent. The recent rash of corporate scandals, Sarb/Ox is toothless as well. The destruction of our Constitution....

So in light of all this, how can you take impeachment off the table? If EVER there has been a DIRE need for impeachment it is now. Watergate is NOTHING compared to this administration's crimes. So, again, how can you take impeachment off the table? Fear of political fallout? This is rediculous, it is your CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY. That leaves but one other reason...complicity. PLEASE show America this is NOT the case.

I'm not demanding impeachment. Not yet. That is for after the investigations. Please though, remember your oath. Remember it is your DUTY. Be strong, honest, and give America ONE representative that gives us hope for Justice and a future.

Sincerely,

B

Thank you for posting this. The following is another action people can take to fight for impeachment.

Good intentions but The House should not exist as a forum for Henry Waxman chasing witches.

I want the Democrats working on important legislation that will end our involvement with Iraq; put and end to illegal immigration; and make Americans of all ages eligible for Medicare. Even at the prospects of raising the income taxes.

libhom,

Thanks for the link, I will check it out more fully today.

Anonymous,

I agree that witch hunts are best left out of politics. McCarthyism and the Red Scare is a great example of why. But a witch hunt is a search for offenders without basis or at best weak or flawed basis.

Demanding Justice is entirely different. We are asking for Justice for crimes that HAVE been committed. Crimes that HAVE killed thousands of Americans, Iraqis, Afganis, and many other folks from around the world. Crimes that HAVE lost or wasted BILLIONS of dollars. Crimes that HAVE deteriorated our Constitution to frightening levels. Crimes that HAVE attacked the very foundation of democracy itself - elections.

As I have mentioned in my posts, our wars are our Highest priorities. Illegal immigrations is an EPIDEMIC and may already be beyond control. (The town I live in has enormous populations of illegals, mostly Mexican and Eastern European nationals) Crime has increased substantially, jobs are harder to come by and pay FAR less than they did a decade ago, social services are suffering, housing costs rise and rise and rise, and as far as I can tell the ONLY benefactors are the Rich who employ and house them. I will be posting more on this later. Health care in general is of major concern.

However, I don't see how any of these things will be fixed if we can't bring our government back under the peoples control. Big business (supported and supporting BOTH of the major parties) has no desire to end our immigration problems. Nor do they want the government to spend less. Nor do they want the government spending the money on the people. With them in full and outright control how CAN we get anything meaningful done?

Thanks for the reponses :) It is through discussion and action that we will find our way through this. If we lack those we lose all.

So, the question that has been lingering in my mind is what the Democrats in Congress will do now. From an outside view, it would appear that this will be a tight rope walk for those recently elected and those in new leadership positions. Choose a new direction that is more liberal, and risk alienating the moderate base. Choose the more moderate direction, and risk losing the liberal base. I have a feeling it will go more towards the center myself, as the past week has shown that there is potential for bipartisan efforts. But if the Dems fail to come through in the next 2 years for some solid solutions, I think many Americans will feel alienated from both parties, causing a large rift between we the people and our elected representatives.

Interesting points you bring out here B - hope we can talk about them more in the future.

Yours as well as mine USA. The Dems. have their work cut out for em and it's not starting out well. There isn't a lot of fact out there yet abour Murtha but Nancy giving him the nod when he could be facing corruption scandal does not bode well for me. But, then again I don't have much for facts in this case as of yet.

Foremost, they need to bring some direction to our wars. Sadly, it appears they are going to go with the straight out cut and run the pundits claimed they would. I certainly hope that the actual legislation will not turn out to be so.

I agree on the moderate point though this is part of the problem (I think) with our "two" party system. Where's the other party?
Both parties represent mostly the same positions with there being a few differing points.

That being said I don't expect a huge change at all. To be honest I believe that Iraq is either past or quickly approaching the point where any success (besides regime change) can be had. This leaves extremely narrow options.

We should have had extensive contacts with neighboring nations, particularly Iran and Syria. We may still be able to foster some headway with either of these nations IF the proper foreign policy is instated. This has been by far one of Bush's weakest abilities. Both have a vested stake in the outcomes possible in Iraq. We need to show them that their best interest is a stable Iraq. Further isolation and alienation of these nations will achieve nothing good. Within Iraq we need to provide security. I do not see how we can with so few troops. Also, in an Islamic nation I'm not so sure we can achieve security no matter how many troops we send. Again, these are concerns that should have been adressed in the planning stages not now in the Snafu stage. These are not concerns we CAN even fix now.

In other areas there will be some change. I hope at least we will see less legislation that destroys more of our Constitutional rights. I would also hope that some of the recent changes to our rights would be repealed.

Socailly, I would think there will be a push to reform Bush's tax debacle. Who knows, maybe even try to balance a budget again! Though that's extremely unlikely with all of our wars going on.

I do expect there will be more arguing in D.C. Bush may even have to veto something...

As far as the Dems. having two years, they have their work cut out for them. It will take fortitude that hasn't been seen for decades in the Democratic party. The battle against corruption is a biggie. 12-3 I think is the tally on Ethics atm. But, that still leaves 3 Dems. with corruption cases in various states of being. Will they have the strength to confront those Dems. as well as the 12 Reps. and ALL the others who aren't being investigated right now? That's a VERY tall order.

Who knows maybe a Dem. failure is what is needed. Maybe the resulting disillusionment will finally lead to a third party (who can represent the actual people of America not business). Wouldn't be a good thing for our military. Another 2 years hung out to dry...

Rambling again sorry...lol
